International Legacy Specialist

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a talented and highly motivated International Legacy Specialist to join our international Global Fundraising hub, based in London. The Global Fundraising Hub is a virtual team of 12-15 highly experienced international fundraisers who provide strategic support and technical guidance to our Members in Asia, Europe, Latin America and North America. A number of the team members work remotely, and the location of this role is flexible also. There is also flexibility around the contracted hours, which can be either full or part-time.


In this new role we would be looking for you to develop, drive and promote best practice in legacy fundraising, and position this area of fundraising as a key driver of long-term unrestricted income for our work with children. You will:

  • -Create a network of legacy fundraisers who will ensure this currently under-developed area becomes a strategic priority both globally and nationally,
  • -Support our Members to build their legacy pipelines from existing supporter bases and identify opportunities to secure pledges from external sources,
  • -Drive the creation of best practice donor journeys,
  • -Manage expectations of the various fundraising stakeholders on return of investment associated gifts in Wills
  • -Support Members to gain and maintain funding for their legacy fundraising activities through monitoring and evaluation and support on building business cases
  • Identify the critical insights and the best practice examples that maximize opportunities to increase the amount of income Save the Children raises from this funding stream
  • -Collaborate effectively with SCI specialists (F2F, DRTV, Donor Development & Digital) and the Market Development Team to ensure that effective legacy strategies are developed, embedded and integrated across Members.


In order to be successful you will bring:

  • -Significant experience in the planning and execution of Legacy fundraising strategies and providing technical expertise to fundraising colleagues
  • Proven experience of delivering legacy fundraising with a demonstrable record of success in securing pledgers and developing a legacy pipeline. Experience in doing this in multiple markets is an advantage or at the global level in an international team.
  • -Experience developing and implementing supporter journeys across multiple channels, designed to stewardship donors in all phases of the pipeline
  • Skills in developing both warm and cold legacy acquisition campaigns for both individual and major donors
  • -The capacity to build and maintain excellent relations and to work effectively in a multicultural and multi-ethnic environment respecting diversity
  • -Strong personal organisational and self-management skills with an ability to motivate others
  • -A proven ability to think critically, objectively, analytically and strategically, solve problems quickly and show initiative
