Philosophy and the Climate Crisis conference

This conference aims to make progress toward addressing climate change, both by addressing the philosophical challenges it raises, and by bringing philosophers, practitioners, and organizers together to advocate for sustainable practices in teaching, research, administration, advocacy, and community engagement.

The conference will include keynote sessions with Marion Hourdequin (Colorado College), Bill McKibben (350.org) and Andrew Light (George Mason University), and Kyle Whyte (University of Michigan), panels organized and moderated by Olúfẹ́mi O. Táíwò (Georgetown) and Robin Zheng (Yale-NUS), pre-read / pre-watch symposia with live Q&A, and workshops and forums with Minorities and Philosophy, the Sunrise Movement, and Philosophers for Sustainability. The conference will be hosted by Temple University, with support from the Greater Philadelphia Philosophy Consortium. The conference flyer is attached, and the schedule, plus pre-read/pre-watch talks can be found here.

As part of building a climate movement at the scale that is needed, we invite you to share the flyer, registration, and conference information with your departments, classes, social networks, and anyone who might be interested, including graduate and undergraduate students and people outside academia.

We hope you will join us. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact the conference organizers, Simona Capisani (scapisani@fas.harvard.edu) and/or Eugene Chislenko (chislenko@temple.edu).
