BIO

Daniel Edward Callies is the head of A-id’s research cluster on Energy and the Environment. He is currently a postdoctoral scholar at the University of California, San Diego’s Institute for Practical Ethics, and an Instructor of Philosophy at Palomar College. His research focuses on issues at the intersection of ethics, politics, technology, and the environment. He received his Ph.D. from Goethe University Frankfurt in 2018. From 2016-2017 he was a Predoctoral Research Fellow at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, and in 2017 he was Bernheim Postdoctoral Fellow in Social Responsibility at the Université catholique de Louvain, Belgium. He has articles published in: Bioethics; Journal of Applied Philosophy; Global Environmental Politics; Ethics, Policy, & the Environment; Moral Philosophy and Politics; and the Journal of Global Ethics. And his first book, Climate Engineering: A Normative Perspective, was published in July of 2019.
